Miguel Migs talks about electronic music and major influences in his productions. Check out what’s the purpose of Salted Music and why he has such a long term partnership with the singer Lisa Shaw.

Miguel Migs stands at the forefront of electronic music’s soulful realm. Whether tackling his original productions or remixes, he achieves an organic-soulful sound by combining the best of both the electronic music world and live instrumentation.

For many years, Miguel’s productions have been included on countless compilations and his records have slid into the crates of top DJs across the globe. His music has also landed on numerous TV Shows, including Six Feet Under, Sex in the City, and MTV’s Road Rules and Real World.

Contrary to many of his club-centric DJ/producer peers, Miguel is not always concerned with the potential dance floor appeal of his soulful tracks. “It’s music you can enjoy and listen to at home, in the club, or anywhere. Not necessarily just to rock the dance floor.” explains the Northern California native, who grew up with a true love of reggae, soul, classic rock, jazz, hip-hop and just about everything else.

To celebrate 21 years of influential UK fashion label Gio-Goi, Toolroom Records present ‘21 Years Of Gio-Goi’. Mixed by House music legends Graeme Park & Toolroom Records label boss Mark Knight, the concept of the compilation focuses on both DJs selecting a classic track from House music’s parallel history, selecting a key track for each year and mixing the compilation in chronological order. The partnership between Gio-Goi, with a lengthy history in Dance music, stemming back to the early Hacienda days, and one of House Music’s biggest and most dynamic record labels was an obvious choice. Recent friends of Gio-Goi include Liam Gallagher, Deadmau5, David Guetta, Lily Allen and Dizzee Rascal cementing them as the market leader for a new generation of fashion on the high street.

As one of the first to pioneer the earliest House music filtering through from Chicago, New York and Detroit in the late 80’s, it seemed only natural that Graeme Park should select the first decade of classics. Still a prominent name within the scene, Graeme’s history with Gio-Goi stems back to the early days with Graeme DJing at Gio-Goi’s creator Chris Donnelly’s 21st birthday. Working his way seamlessly through anthems including LFO’s seminal ‘LFO’ into Inner City’s ‘Pennies From Heaven’, finishing on Joey Negro’s ‘Can’t Get High Without You’ and Jamie Lewis & Nick Morris’s disco Houser ‘Sunshine Hotel’.

Bringing you up-to-date, Mark Knight, who himself pioneered the arrival of a new generation of DJ/Producers, kicks off with the genre crossing anthem ‘Knights Of The Jaguar’ by DJ Rolando. Moving effortlessly into Danny Tenaglia’s remix of ‘Finally’ by Kings Of Tomorrow and John Ciafone’s remix of Underworlds ‘2 Months Off’. Unsurprisingly finishing off with a little Deadmau5, Mark’s own re-work of Laurent Garnier’s ‘Man With The Red Face’ and the massive collaboration with D.Ramirez & Underworld ‘Downpipe’, an undisputable modern classic.

Q: You are playing the Friday of the very first L.E.D festival, how does it feel?

Axwell:
Great! Looking forward to playing in London again! Just hoping for some nice weather!

Q: Can you tell us some more about your heart show that you will be bringing to Victoria Park?

Axwell:
Well, it is a 5 x 5 meter LED screen and with help from my video techs I want to give the audience something back! A more synchronised show with a visual impact. I just want to bring something to the table and develop it as it proceeds. And hopefully people will like the music and the show.

Q: Your Brixton shows have been incredible, how does it feel to have such a loyal UK fanbase?

Axwell:
England has always been an important place for me and it’s fantastic to see the crowd excited and loving what I love to do! It gives so much energy and that makes me want to continue to do music.

Q: What does 2010 have in store for Axwell, can we expect any big hits?

Axwell:
Haha, well I always try my best to deliver and fulfil the fans expectations, and I have some tracks that I personally love. “Nothing But love (for you)” will be out soon and the hype on the internet have been amazing! I try my best and I hope it’s enough to get the crowd going!

Q: Will you be making time to see anyone else on the L.E.D line up this year?

Axwell:
My schedule is more C R A Z Y this year! I am even doing a couple of days with 2 shows on the same night! But it would be nice to hang around when Sebastian Ingrosso is playing without having to work myself! Haahaha.

Q: Travelling around the world must be amazing, but do you get time to see any of the countries?

Axwell:
Before, when I did 2 maybe 3 gigs per weekend id could try to take some time to walk the streets in a new city. Maybe see a friend. But now when I do 4-5 shows a week it’s hard to keep up with work. So every chance I get in the hotel or on the airplane I need to focus on making music. Otherwise I won’t have any tracks to play next year!

Q: You also have your own night in Ibiza, will you be bringing a bit of the Island fun to L.E.D?

Axwell:
Is a special thing to travel to Ibiza and visit a place like Pacha. The vibe, the weather and listening to the fantastic music. And that’s hard to take to another place, but I promise to try and make everyone as hot as they would be in Ibiza.

Q: In the Cream arena you are joined by lots of your friends, Ingrosso, A N21 & Kim Fai just to name a few, can we expect one big party?

Axwell:
It’s always a big party! That’s what keeps the spirit alive! I am going to book a big suite so the after party will be at my place!

Q: When you began DJing/Producing did you ever envisage getting to this stage in your career?

Axwell:
I dreamt about it but maybe I didn’t dare to think it could be true one day. But at the same time I believe that success comes to those who work. Sometimes it’s harder, but if you fight for what you believe in and do what you like, the road forward will give you opportunities and if you make the right decisions, it can even take you further.

Q: What did you originally set out to achieve when you began?

Axwell:
I just wanted to do music. I didn’t want to do anything else. And if I could pay the bills by doing just that… I would be happy! Getting to play these big shows and Djing on clubs is amazing and great fun to do, but it also gives me the opportunity to continue to do what I wanted to do since I was a kid. And that’s more music.

Q: Can you tell us in 3 words what the show will be like at L.E.D?
Axwell:
Heart-pounding, sweaty & fresh!

Launched in 2009, Sander’s ‘Dusk Till Doorn’ nights have steadily evolved into one of the premier brands on the global clubbing circuit. On this album, just like the nights, fans will be taken on a journey through the genres of dance music, showcasing Sander’s progressive house side through to his tech-trance roots. The majority of CD1 will get you in the mood, sucking you in with a deeper, progressive feel: Mason, East & Young, Jeremy Olander and Rank 1, Nic Chagall & Wippenberg all get the Dusk Till Doorn treatment. Disc 2’s mix is layered with big room anthems from the likes of Ummet Ozcan, 4 Strings, Jon O’Bir and Arty, leaving you breathless and showing once again why Sander is one of the biggest DJs in the world.

Sander commented: "Dusk Till Doorn is a night that was dreamt up a while ago, and to be releasing my first Dusk Till Doorn compilation now feels amazing. The club night is now firmly established globally, so with this compilation I’ve tried to condense into two mixes what happens over the course of a Dusk Till Doorn night. I had a lot of fun mixing this and I’m really proud of the album and of Dusk Till Doorn as a whole. The fans have been asking me for a while when there will be an album to accompany the night – well here it is! I hope you enjoy it…"

The latest Pryda Friends release comes from Chicago-based legend Felix da Housecat, and features an additional remix from label boss Eric Prydz. Confidently called ‘Thee Anthem,’ it has all the ingredients needed for a huge hit. You may be surprised this is a Felix da Housecat track, as it has a fresh melodic sound, but it’s no surprise that the song is already being hammered by Swedish House Mafia, Pete Tong and many others.

MILPITAS, Calif., Jul 20, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — SanDisk Corporation (SNDK 41.43, -0.36, -0.86%), the global leader in flash memory cards, today announced that it is partnering with Tiesto, the world’s No.1 DJ, to create a crowd-sourced music video using mobile phone footage from concert audiences around the world(1). Consumers who attend Tiesto concerts can contribute footage from the events, and customers who purchase specially marked SanDisk microSDHC(TM) cards can download exclusive tracks created by Tiesto for his “What’s Next” virtual mix CD.

SanDisk will sponsor select Tiesto concerts throughout North America and Europe. During each event, the audience will be encouraged to record their concert experience using mobile phones while Tiesto performs a track from the exclusive mix offered to SanDisk customers. Concert-goers can upload their footage to www.wakeupyourphone.com/tiesto, and later Tiesto will select his favorite fan-generated clips for use in the track’s official music video.

“Tiesto’s concert audiences are going to help create a professional music video shot using mobile phones,” said Bob O’Keefe, vice president, retail marketing, SanDisk. “Consumers are already taking mobile videos every day, and SanDisk is giving Tiesto’s fans the opportunity to showcase the power of today’s handsets.”

Smartphones do more than place calls; they serve as mobile offices, music players, movie theaters, cameras and camcorders, GPS devices and gateways to the mobile Internet. These features produce large files that can quickly fill a phone’s onboard storage capacity. SanDisk microSDHC cards provide consumers with maximum freedom and flexibility in how they create and distribute content, letting them enjoy their mobile phones without worrying about running out of storage.

“I love the way technology is evolving. It’s amazing that SanDisk is the little memory card inside all of those phones and cameras every night,” said Tiesto. “Everyone is a photographer and movie maker, and it’s all happening in real time.”

Download Exclusive Tiesto Content

SanDisk is also making available premium Tiesto content for download fromwww.wakeupyourphone.com/tiesto; Tiesto’s “Whats Next” mix contains five exclusive tracks and an extended mix.
