With a Grand Opening on New Year’s Eve 2010, Marquee Nightclub at The Cosmopolitan promises to be the most spectacular new space in Las Vegas.

The venue is more than 62,000 square feet, with 50-foot-tall ceilings and an unparalleled multi-million-dollar sound stage designed to cater to any performer’s whim. Coliseum-style seating surrounds a focal dance floor, where one can marvel at the four-story LED screens and projection walls that will display customized light and image shows distinctly tailored for each performance.

In addition to the Nightclub space, Marquee will debut its Dayclub in the warmer spring months. Featuring Grand Cabanas with individual infinity pools, the Dayclub also boasts a multitude of three-story Bungalow Lofts, complete with a cabana, living quarters and a party deck on top.

Marquee has secured the top international house music DJs as residents, and the pairing of high-caliber DJs with the over-the-top extravagance of the club promises to impress even the most traveled tastemakers. If one’s taste is not in house music, the exquisite space offers a room called the “Boom Box” as a mixed-format area. With vast glass window-walls overlooking the famous Las Vegas Strip, the Boom Box offers a nightlife experience unlike any other venue.

Marquee is open every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10pm to 4am.

Avalon’s weekly Saturday night club event featuring the best in underground dance music!

Avalon Hollywood, formerly the historic Palace theatre, exudes a unique mix of classic ‘tinsel town’ history with cutting-edge contemporary, while maintaining the style and soul of a venue witness to legendary performances that spanned decades, from Judy Garland to Prince, The Beatles to Snoop Dogg, and Frank Sinatra to Nirvana. With its state-of the art lighting & sound systems, Avalon Hollywood is ideal for live concerts, awards show, film shoots, fashion shows, & film screenings. Its prime location next to the Arclight theatre and Cinerama Dome puts Avalon Hollywood as the perfect spot for Hollywood film premiere parties.

Directly adjacent to the high-energy Avalon lives the slightly surreal oasis The Bardot. Conceived as an old school exclusive club, and designed in the culture clash aesthetic of late sixties, tasteful but eccentric European expat in Morocco, Bardot is the perfect venue for all private parties, after parties & VIP events.

As one enters through a private entrance and ascends the vibrant blue stairs directly into the heart of the club, one will find a stunning open air patio with a slightly decayed Moorish style. Bardot’s stunning beauty & unique style make it a one-of-a-kind venue.

New Year’s Eve is months away, but Las Vegas’ night life industry already has had its fair share of fireworks.

The past few months have brought rapid-fire changes in city’s hottest industry — executive departures, management mergers, more executive departures, the announcement of a new nightclub and the closure of another.

Las Vegas’ favorite party girl Paris Hilton and boyfriend and former Wynn nightlife executive Cy Waits unofficially kicked off the changes with their arrests on drug-related charges on the Strip in late August. It came as no surprise when Wynn Resorts announced Waits had “separated” from the company and that Hilton was no longer allowed in its resorts.

Waits’ arrest was followed by the announcement of Bob Mancari’s exit as managing partner in the $68 million Encore Beach Club and Surrender nightclub, and two more executive departures from Las Vegas Nightlife Group, all within weeks. Las Vegas Nightlife operates Encore Beach Club and Surrender and Blush nightclubs, while Waits managed XS and Tryst.

Despite speculation that the executive departures were in some way connected to the events with Waits, Jonathan Shecter, executive director for marketing for Las Vegas Nightlife, insists they were unrelated.

“A couple of situations came up and they were totally unique from each other. There wasn’t any connection,” Shecter said. “I think in the nightclub industry there are inevitably changes that happen with personnel.”

Shecter said the changes in management doesn’t mean the group is changing strategy. Encore Beach Club performed above expectations in its first summer, with 3,000 partygoers a day visiting the venue on its busiest weekends, Shecter said.

But we’ll see some physical changes in the structure of Encore Beach Club that Shecter said will better enhance the customer experience. As to what those changes are, Shecter isn’t sharing.

Perhaps the biggest shake-up and worst kept secret in nightlife was the fast-growing Angel Management Group’s acquisition of Pure Management Group in September. The deal positions Angel as one the largest hospitality management groups in town with 17 venues.

Nick McCabe, Angel vice president of strategy, said the company was only in serious discussions with Pure for a month before the announcement was made.

“We’ve been fairly quiet, but in the background we’ve been structuring our company for growth,” McCabe said. “While it was a surprise to a lot of the market, it was something that we’ve been planning for a while.”

The merger of Angel and Pure mirrors the current trend on the Strip of large corporations such as Harrah’s Entertainment and MGM Resorts International scooping up assets from smaller companies. Las Vegas’ nightlife scene is primarily controlled by Angel and rival company Light Group, which operates 18 venues on the Strip.

Aside from interior changes, openings and closings, the average clubgoer will notice few of the changes, said Jack Colton, who runs a nightlife guide website.

“There’s not a lot of changes that they’re going to see,” Colton said. “They’re still going to have a club that’s likely as busy as it was or busier. There’s still going to music, drinks and people getting drunk.

“If the place is still open and it’s still busy and it’s still a good crowd, what difference does it make to a person from Texas?”

What clubgoers will notice is the massive Marquee nightclub/dayclub by Tao Group at the Cosmopolitan opening in December. The company hasn’t released any details on the club yet, but insiders say it will be open a record 18 hours per day and will be one of the largest in the world at 65,000 square feet.

And if partyers don’t take notice Marquee’s venue, they’ll be sure to notice the performance from odd couple Jay-Z and Coldplay ringing in the New Year at the club.

Calvin Harris at Tao Calvin Harris created disco. Well, not exactly, but his electroclash debut album, I Created Disco, put him on the radar, went gold and earned him a set at Tao this week. Catch the Scottish DJ/producer who brought “You Used to Hold Me” and “I’m Not Alone” to the dance floor when he takes over the club for Worship Thursdays. October 7, doors at 10 p.m., $10 and up, locals free.

Down & Derby at The Joint You’ve been looking for an excuse to wear those retro short-shorts again, or at least a public place where pairing them with knee socks isn’t frowned upon. The roller skating disco party moves to the Joint with Shr3d, OB One and M!KEATTACK providing the tunes. You’ll be gettin’ down for a good cause, too: $1 of every ticket sold at the Joint’s box office benefits the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. October 8, doors at 10 p.m., $15 at the door, $5 if you RSVP in advance at downandderby.org.

Tarts & Vicars party at Erotic Heritage Museum Tart: A prostitute. Vicar: A religious representative, such as a member of the clergy. Both are open to interpretation for the 18-and-up costume party that’s sure to include mingling not sanctioned by any church. Admission also gives you the chance to win some titillating prizes (Hint: The main event sponsor is Fleshlight). All proceeds benefit the museum, whose troubles you can read about in the October 7 issue on theWeeklyOctober 9, 7 p.m.-2 a.m., $10.

Jessica Hall hosts at Pure Hot chicks don’t just exist inside your computer. See one in person Saturday night as Playboy cybergirl and radio host Jessica Hall parties at Pure. She’s also featured in the October 2010 issue of Hef’s mag, so pick one up on the way to the club in case security lets you close enough to snag an autograph. Just don’t drool on her. Hot chicks hate that. October 9, doors at 10 p.m., $20 and up.

Grand opening of Born and Raised Tavern Let’s go to the BAR! Born and Raised, that is. The new spot for Las Vegans by Las Vegans celebrates its grand opening at midnight on 10/10/10 with a silent auction and benefit for Opportunity Village. October 10, midnight, free, 7260 S. Cimarron Road.

Rehab finale at the Hard Rock Hotel We’re not sure what the Hard Rock Cafe’s suit over the debauchery portrayed on TruTV’s Rehab means for the actual shin-dig, but hit up the last Rehab of the season just in case. Getting in a screaming match with Matt is a sure-fire way to get on-air, by the way (and probably thrown out, too). But that’s what Rehab’s all about! October 10, doors at 10 a.m., $50 for men, $30 for ladies.

Seb Fontaine at Ghostbar Rumor has it Seb Fontaine’s DJing mother conceived him in Ibiza, so you know the dude’s got music in his veins. Dance your cares away to house sounds Sunday at Ghostbar with a set by Seb that’ll likely include his recent track “Thieves, Junkies, Whores.” Plus a guest set by Beatport’s Sir Thomas. October 10, doors at 10 p.m., $30, free for locals.

Naughty Kingdom at Revolution Disney done dirty! Revelers are invited to dress up as their favorite Disney character—regular or raunchy—and to enjoy $5 beers or vodka drinks and a special performance by The Flirt Show with their tranny kids, man kandy and rhinestone kittens. It gives a whole new meaning to the words “Magic Kingdom.” October 10, doors at 10 p.m., $20, free for locals.

News of last week’s takeover of Pure Management Group (Pure in Caesars Palace, LAX and Noir Bar in the Luxor, Social House in MGM CityCenter’s Crystals) by Angel Management Group wasn’t a surprise to Vegas DeLuxe readers, who read the information here first more than a week ahead of everybody else.

Now there are rumors of three other major nightlife moves all set to be revealed before the end of the year. Expect initial confirmation within the next month of a story we first reported in early July about the transformation of former Barbary Coast turned Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon.

It will become a chic boutique hotel with a hot, hip daylife pool complex modeled after the new W Hotel’s in Hollywood that’s run there by nightclub czar Victor Drai, who owns Drai’s After Hours at Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall at center Strip. It’s safe to expect a roof-to-ground-floor makeover with new restaurants.

Watch the continuing negotiations for a nightlife group to acquire a hotel here and some of its other U.S. properties. Upon completion of the multimillion deal, many of its local clubs will be installed into their hotels, making them the top U.S. club operator. I’m reliably told the nightlife group is a buyer, not a seller, and although there’s no concrete deal until papers are signed, it’s getting closer to fruition. And if that fails, they have two other opportunities for an incredible expansion.

DJSounds caught up with DVJ, Sander Kleinenberg, at Dance Valley in Holland, where this time he had his own “This Is” arena after playing at the festival for the first time twelve years ago.

He talked about his new autobiographical album which features a surprise female superstar guest, as well as Jamie Cullum, and many more.

Sander also enthused about his new website, www.dvjclips.com, which he has created with Mark Pistoire, where you can download the clips and tracks they’ve created; as well as how the new CDJ-2000 sits nicely with his normal DVJ-1000 and SVM-1000 set-up.
