Can’t wait for his new August album? Then check these out
With both the Magnetic Man debut single ‘I Need Air’ (out 25th July), Skream’s collaboration with fellow dubstep cohorts Benga and Artwork, and a second artist album (out August) on the way, it’s going to be a busy summer for Croydon’s most famous son.
Having become an international sensation following his ubiquitous remix of Le Roux’s ‘In For the Kill’, it’s sure to consolidate dubstep’s presence on the festival circuit as the Magnetic Man dates below show.
In the meantime, if you can’t wait until August for his own solo material check these previously unreleased tracks from our friends over at The Fat! Club
The Weekly likes awesome, kick-ass chicks. The Weekly likes music. And, of course, the Weekly likes free booze. So, we put three of our favorite things together for a party/DJ competition June 25 at Tao Beach.
Reaching out to some of the most talented she-jays you may have seen in Vegas, this isn’t just a T&A-behind-the-tables, let’s-get-chicks-in-bikinis-on-a-preplanned-playlist kind of contest. All of the Tao Beats’ competitors are pleasing to the eyes, but their sets should be pleasing to the ears with a variety of genres being represented.
Talented turntabilist Tina T is slated to spin in the contest, as well as Lady Sha, the first female to win the Miami Winter Music Conference International DJ Spin-off. We also have Sarah Fabbringing house and electro, plus Tatiana, who’s a chameleon behind the decks and is versatile enough to play whatever she pleases depending on the night/venue. And last, but not least,Madam Filth is representing with drum-and-bass, breaks, electro or anything else strong enough to send sound through your soul.
While judges Tony Cordasco from Red Bull, Tao’s Omar Galeano and yours truly have some say in who will take home the $2,000 cash prize and earn a residency at a Tao Group venue, it’s up to you, the fans and clubbers, to slather on the sunscreen and cheer on your favorite DJ for crowd-support points. We’re also offering free booze to fuel the frenzy as all guests of the Las Vegas Weekly score a wristband for an open well-drink bar from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (or until you lushes drink it all).

Vegas is about to get one-third dirtier. British DJ/producer Paul Harris, also known for his work with Grammy-winning electronic music trio Dirty Vegas, spins a solo set at Vanity for Godskitchen June 17.
While he may drop a few new Dirty Vegas tracks from the album they just finished (release date TBD), a plethora of Paul Harris originals and remixes are more likely. “I play all of my own music normally,” says Harris. “I’m in the studio practically 24 hours a day and then get out to clubs luckily enough sometimes and play my own records.
“I guess at the moment, my sound is straight up house,” Harris says of his solo work. “I can be quite eclectic as well, so on my laptop I do have a vast selection of music to see what the crowd wants. But if I could play what I just want to play, I just play straight up house.”
As far as billing, does Harris mind the Dirty Vegas association when out on his own? “Dirty Vegas is probably bigger than Paul Harris, so I guess it helps to bring people to the show,” he says. Not much seems to faze the self-proclaimed all-around nice guy. “I guess you just don’t shit on your own doorstep,” he laughs. “The dance and the music industry is very, very small, so if you do something bad to some person, it’ll come back to you, so I’m just pretty nice. I never upset anyone.”

America’s Best DJs are making Vegas their home. We’ve got Z-Trip and Scotty Boy at the Palms, Kaskade launching his summer residency at the Encore Beach Club, Skribble’s at Studio 54, and here comes one more. Get ready for Qbert at a nightclub near you next month.
Repeatedly ranking in DJ Times’ polls of the best DJs behind the tables and racking up numerous accolades as a DMC champion, Richard Quitevis, better known as Qbert, is preparing to kick off a residency June 23 at Crown Nightclub inside the Rio.
“It’s twice a month, every other Wednesday,” Qbert tells the Weekly and encourages all the b-boys and girls to come out and join the party. The turntabilist says he plans on finding something to appeal to everyone, but still remain true to what helped him make his mark. “I’d like to just go hardcore and balls out, super hardcore underground,” says the San Francisco native. “But you can’t really please everyone, so I’m just going to do what I love and I’m just going to be myself.” He adds, “I’ll always throw something in at the end for all the hardcore scratch nerds like myself.”
The launch of Qbert’s residency also marks the beginning of a new night celebrating Asian-American culture. Qbert, a Filipino-American, will be one of many music and entertainment icons featured on various Wednesday nights that represent various facets of Asian-American heritage.
In addition to Qbert’s first night and launch of The Movement, other special guests slated are Far East Movement (June 20) and Kuncklehead Zoo (July 14).
